Animal Care & Guest Engagement team members play a vital role in the daily operations of the zoo. This position supports animal welfare, habitat cleanliness, property upkeep, and positive visitor experiences. Volunteers in this role work closely with animal care staff to ensure animals receive high-quality care while helping guests learn about wildlife and conservation.
This is a hands-on, active role ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, caring for animals, and engaging with the public.

The habitat production team is a hands-on position involved in habitat fabrication projects and improvements. The individual must be well versed in state-of-the-art habitat design and production materials and methods to produce high quality habitat simulations that are aesthetically pleasing, functional, durable, and non-toxic to animals in collection. The individual must utilize leadership, communication, organization and creativity.
This is a selective volunteer position. Because outreach volunteers represent the organization in public and assist with fundraising, not every individual who applies or expresses interest is guaranteed placement in this role. Selection is based on organizational needs, availability, training completion, and alignment with our mission and standards.

The enrichment team is a remote and hands-on position involved in enrichment fabrication projects and research. The individual must be well versed the 5 types of animal enrichment, design and production materials and methods to produce high quality simulations that are aesthetically pleasing, functional, durable, and non-toxic to animals in the collection. Enrichments will be made and delivered to the organization or ideas of enrichment will be submitted. Implantation, oversight and record keeping of activity is responsibility of enrichment program team. The individual must utilize leadership, communication, organization and creativity.

The scientific studies team is a remote position involved in providing scientific and technical assistance in the management of the animal collection and assists in conducting various research or field conservation projects. The individual must utilize leadership, independence, communication, organization and conservation knowledge.

Community Outreach & Fundraising Volunteers serve as ambassadors for Otters & Others Zoo and Conservation at off-site events and community programs. These volunteers help share our mission, support fundraising efforts, and engage the public in meaningful conversations about wildlife, conservation, and education.
